Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Human Centered Design & UX Analyst to support HCD and HFE across VA VHA Connected Health tools. The role spans discovery to validation, eliciting requirements, and producing validated workflows and wireframes for development teams.

The position is fully remote within the United States, joining a cross-functional sprint team with senior HCD practitioners. A strong portfolio and experience in design research are expected.

Qualifications

• Foundational understanding of HCD and UX principles in professional settings.
• Experience supporting qualitative research activities: interviews, focus groups, usability testing.
• Produce and maintain design artifacts such as journey maps, personas, workflows.
• Familiarity with Mural and facilitation for workshops.
• Knowledge of accessibility requirements, incl. Section 508 and WCAG 2.2.
• Strong written and verbal communication; capable of presenting findings.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team with shifting priorities.
• Willingness to travel regularly within the continental United States for onsite research.
• Portfolio or case studies demonstrating research or design work.

Responsibilities

• Supports HCD/HFE studies using interviews, focus groups, observation, and usability testing.
• Develops insights into user behaviors and translates findings into recommendations.
• Coordinates participant recruitment and schedules with VA lead.
• Maintains HCD artifacts like journey maps, personas, workflows, wireframes.
• Supports field testing, UAT, pilots, and development of SOPs and knowledge articles.
• Contributes to human factors activities and ensures designs meet human interface requirements.
• Monitors app store feedback and produces weekly/monthly summaries.
