Job summary

SOLV Energy, a leader in solar, storage, and high-voltage substations, seeks a Design Engineer II, Substation. The role owns preliminary substation design for utility-scale projects, serving from BD kickoff to preconstruction handoff, with full remote work.

Location details to be discussed in interview. You will coordinate with engineering consultants, procurement, estimating, and scheduling to ensure design quality, risk mitigation, and timely handoffs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is a nice-to-have, not required.
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in electrical substation engineering.
• Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD, ETAP.
• Understanding of IEEE, NEC, NESC and utility interconnection requirements.

Responsibilities

• Own the first-pass preliminary substation design and define assumptions for 10% design deliverable.
• Review client documents, interconnection agreements, and standards to identify requirements and risks.
• Coordinate inputs from engineering consultants, procurement, estimating, and scheduling.
• Lead development of the 10% substation design, including single-line diagrams and equipment sizing.
• Ensure alignment of design, quantities, schedule, and commercial assumptions with BD and estimating.
