GovCIO is hiring a Data Engineer and Architect to support VA healthcare data integration into the Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW). The role emphasizes database design, T-SQL expertise, and experience with Millennium/VistA, SSIS, and Power BI.

Fully remote in the United States, with collaboration across data stewards, DBAs, and ETL teams. The position requires strong data modeling, governance, and documentation skills, plus experience handling PHI/PII and maintaining data quality in enterprise

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 14+ years of relevant experience; or Master's with 10+ years; or equivalent professional experience.
• Healthcare data domain experience and Millennium data interactions.
• Advanced SQL skills: T-SQL, indexing, partitioning, query optimization.
• Experience with SSIS/SSAS and Power BI for data integration and visualization.
• Strong data modeling and data governance knowledge.

Responsabilités

• Analyze source systems (VistA, Millennium, ADR, MVI, Geospatial, PIT, Exam Management) to define data structures and PHI/PII classification.
• Design and maintain database objects (tables, views, stored procedures) for CDW ingestion.
• Build conceptual, logical, and physical data models for enterprise data integration.
• Perform source-to-target analysis and mapping with documented transformations.
• Collaborate with data stewards, SMEs, DBAs, ETL developers, and source extraction teams.
• Create and deploy data models and metadata using the CDW MDR Editor; contribute to workflow improvements.
• Develop and maintain Data Domain Design Documents (DDDs) including ERDs and mappings.
• Ensure CDW standards, data governance, security requirements, and enterprise guidelines.
• Investigate data quality issues and root-cause analysis with technical and business teams.
