Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Data Engineer and Architect to support VA healthcare data integration into the Corporate Data Warehouse. The role emphasizes database design, SQL proficiency, and working with health data from systems like VistA and Millennium.

The position is fully remote in the United States and requires collaboration with data stewards, DBAs, ETL teams, and source extraction teams to ensure data quality and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with 14+ years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with 10+ years of experience; or equivalent professional experience.
• Advanced proficiency in healthcare data domains and Millennium data interactions.
• Experience handling PHI/PII across systems such as Millennium, VistA, ADR, MVI, GeoSpatial, PIT, Exam Management.

Responsibilities

• Analyze source systems (VistA, Millennium, ADR, MVI, Geospatial, PIT, Exam Management) to define data structures and PHI/PII classifications.
• Design and maintain database objects (tables, views, stored procedures) to support CDW ingestion.
• Develop data models (conceptual/logical/physical) for scalable enterprise integration.
• Document transformations and mappings for CDW consistency.
• Collaborate with SMEs, DBAs, ETL developers, and source extraction teams across the data lifecycle.
