GovCIO is seeking a Data Engineer and Architect to support VA healthcare data integration and ingestion into the Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW). You will analyze source systems such as VistA and Millennium, design robust data models, and implement database objects to enable scalable data workflows.

The role focuses on PHI/PII classification, governance, and collaboration with DBAs, SMEs, and ETL teams to ensure high data quality and security across the enterprise CDW environment.

Qualifications

• 14+ years of relevant data engineering/architect experience; or 10+ with a relevant master's
• Healthcare data domain expertise preferred
• Experience handling PHI/PII across Millennium, VistA, ADR, MVI and related systems
• Advanced SQL Server skills: T-SQL, indexing, partitioning, query optimization
• Experience with SSIS/SSAS and Power BI for data integration and visualization
• Familiarity with CDW standards and data governance processes

Responsabilités

• Analyze source systems (VistA, Millennium, ADR, MVI, Geospatial, PIT, Exam Management) to define data structures and business rules
• Design and maintain database objects (tables, views, stored procedures) for CDW ingestion
• Build conceptual, logical, and physical data models for enterprise data integration
• Document transformations and source-to-target mappings for CDW consistency
• Collaborate with data stewards, DBAs, ETL developers, and source extraction teams
• Create and deploy data models and metadata using the CDW MDR Editor
• Develop Data Domain Design Documents with ERDs, data lineage, and mappings
• Ensure compliance with CDW standards, data governance, and security policies
• Investigate and resolve data quality issues with root-cause analysis
