Job summary

GovCIO is hiring a Data Engineer and Architect to support VA healthcare data integration into the Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW). The role analyzes source systems like VistA and Millennium and designs database objects, data models, and governance documents. Remote work within the United States is offered.

Responsibilities span data modeling, data quality, and collaboration with data stewards, DBAs, ETL teams, and source extraction teams. Strong SQL, SSIS/SSAS, and Power BI skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree with extensive related experience.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare data domains and Millennium data interactions.
• Experience handling PHI/PII across systems.
• Advanced SQL and data modeling skills.
• Familiarity with CDW standards and governance.

Responsibilities

• Analyze source systems (VistA, Millennium, ADR, MVI, Geospatial, PIT, Exam Management) to define data structures and rules.
• Design and maintain database objects supporting CDW ingestion.
• Develop data models (conceptual, logical, physical) for scalable enterprise integration.
• Document data transformations and mappings to ensure CDW consistency.
• Collaborate with data stewards, SMEs, DBAs, ETL developers and source teams.
• Create and deploy data models and metadata using the MDR Editor and contribute to tooling enhancements.
• Develop Data Domain Design Documents (DDDs) with ERDs and source-to-target mappings.
• Ensure compliance with CDW standards, data governance, security, and enterprise architecture.
• Investigate and resolve data quality issues with root-cause analysis.
