Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services is hiring a Remote PRN HCC Coder with CRC to join our team. The position offers full-time status with varied days and hours and is based in the United States.

Responsibilities include coding inpatient/outpatient hospital records, ED, Home Health & Hospice, and professional services using ICD-9/10 CM and CPT-4, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Training and ongoing education are provided.

Qualifications

• Must have any one of the coding certifications at time of hire: HCS-D, CCS, CCS-P, CPC-H or CPC, or RHIT/RHIA with achievement of one within one year of hire.
• One-three years experience as a coder required.
• Computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Experience with an encoder preferred.
• Experience with an Electronic Medical Record preferred.
• Must be able to use the internet and other electronic resources for research

Responsibilities

• Codes inpatient and/or outpatient hospital records, ED records, Home Health & Hospice records and/or professional fee services using ICD-9/10 CM and CPT-4 for reimbursement and in compliance with regulations.
• Abstracts data essential to the QI department and provides information to the Joint Commission.
• Researches medical records across systems to complete coding in a timely manner and pursues lost documents to ensure complete encounters.
• Resolves pre-bill edits, denials, and other issues for assigned accounts.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of ICD-9/10 CM, CPT-4, HCPCS, DRG, APC and HHRG updates and changes.
• Maintains 95% accuracy and productivity per department standards.
• Completes continuing education as required by policy.
