Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services is seeking a skilled Remote OP Facility Coder (PRN) to join our team. The role requires coding of inpatient and outpatient hospital records, ED records, Home Health & Hospice records, and professional services using ICD-9/10 CM and CPT-4, with adherence to policies and procedures.

The candidate should have 3–5 years of coding experience, inpatient coding preferred, and hold one of the required coding certifications (HCS-D, CCS, CCS-P, CPC-H, RHIT/RHIA).

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required.
• Must have any one of the following coding certifications at time of hire: HCS-D, CCS, CCS-P, CPC-H, or RHIT/RHIA with achievement of one of the coding credentials above within one year of hire.
• Three to five years experience as a coder required.
• Inpatient Coding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient and/or outpatient hospital records, ED records, Home Health & Hospice records and/or professional fee services using ICD-9/10 CM and CPT-4.
• Review patient records and assign codes (CPT, ICD, MS-DRG) for reimbursement and research.
• Access multiple systems to research records and ensure timely coding; generate queries as needed.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ICD-9/10 CM, CPT-4, HCPCS, DRG and related updates.
• Resolve pre-bill edits, denials, and other issues for assigned accounts.
• Participate in in-services and updates to coding guidelines.
• Communicate issues to the EW Clinical Coding Manager.
• Maintain at least a 95% accuracy rate and high productivity per PHS standards.
• Maintain CE requirements per PHS policy.
