Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services in New Mexico is seeking a skilled Remote PRN HCC Coder with CRC to join our team. This full‑time remote position reports to the Clinical Coding leadership and offers a competitive benefits package.

You will code inpatient and outpatient hospital records, ED records, Home Health & Hospice, and professional services using ICD-9/10-CM and CPT-4, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and timely reimbursement.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Certification: HCS-D, CCS, CCS-P, CPC-H, CPC, RHIT or RHIA within 12 months of hire.
• 1–3 years coder experience.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Encoder and EMR experience preferred.
• Able to use internet resources for research.

Responsibilities

• Codes inpatient and/or outpatient hospital records, ED records, Home Health & Hospice, and/or professional services using ICD-9/10-CM and CPT-4.
• Abstracts data for QI and Joint Commission.
• Researches medical records via multiple systems to complete coding timely.
• Resolves pre-bill edits and denials for assigned accounts.
• Keeps up-to-date on ICD-9/10, CPT-4, HCPCS, DRG, APC changes.
• Maintains knowledge of coding guidelines and regulatory updates.
