Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services is seeking a Remote OP Facility Coder (PRN) to code inpatient, outpatient hospital records, ED, Home Health & Hospice records, and professional services for PMG specialists using ICD‑9/10 CM and CPT‑4. The role requires adherence to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

The position focuses on accurate coding with a target accuracy of at least 95% and strong productivity, supporting multiple coding areas and CMS/UHDDS guidelines in a remote office

Qualifications

• High school diploma / GED required.
• Must hold one of the coding certifications at time of hire: HCS‑D, CCS, CCS‑P, CPC‑H, or RHIT/RHIA; with acquisition within one year of hire.
• Three to five years of coding experience required.
• Inpatient coding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of coding multiple areas of service or extensive experience in a critical specialty.
• Review patients’ records and assign appropriate codes (CPT, ICD, MS‑DRG) per UHDDS and CMS guidelines.
• Access multiple systems to research the medical record and complete coding in a timely manner.
• Take responsibility for accounts receivable by identifying lost documents and generating queries as needed.
• Maintain up‑to‑date technical knowledge of ICD‑9/10 CM, CPT‑4, HCPCS, DRG, APC, HHRG updates.
• Resolve pre‑bill edits, denials, and other issues for assigned accounts.
• Participate in departmental in‑services and updates to stay current with coding guidelines.
• Communicate issues to the EW Clinical Coding Manager as appropriate.
• Maintain at least a 95% accuracy rate.
• Maintain average to high productivity based on PHS standards.
• Meet continuing education requirements per PHS policy.
• Perform other functions as required.
