Job summary
Placements24 is seeking a Grid Modernization Engineer to join a fully remote team focused on modernizing the electricity grid. You will design strategies, evaluate smart grid tech, and drive DER integration, microgrid concepts, and AMI/ADMS deployments to improve reliability and efficiency across distributed assets.
The role requires a strong electrical engineering background, 6+ years in power systems, and familiarity with IEEE/IEC standards.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a Power Systems focus.
- 6+ years of power systems engineering experience emphasizing grid modernization or smart grid tech.
- Experience with DER integration, microgrids, or AMI/advanced metering Infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop grid modernization strategies and roadmaps.
- Evaluate and integrate smart grid technologies (SCADA, AMI, ADMS).
- Analyze DER impact on grid stability.
- Develop control strategies for microgrids and energy storage.
- Perform feasibility studies and technical assessments for grid projects.
- Collaborate with utility partners, technology providers and regulators.
- Create technical specs and requirements for new grid tech.
- Monitor grid performance data and identify improvement areas.
- Stay updated on grid modernization trends and best practices.
- Prepare technical reports and project documentation.
