Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Grid Modernization Specialist for a hybrid role based in Paarl, Western Cape, ZA. You will lead planning, design and deployment of smart grid initiatives, driving SCADA/AMI integration and data-driven improvements across the distribution network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's preferred.
• 6+ years in power systems with grid modernization focus.
• Knowledge of grid operations, power system analysis, and control systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategies and roadmaps for grid modernization initiatives.
• Plan and oversee implementation of smart grid technologies (SCADA, AMI, distribution automation).
• Analyze grid data to identify improvements and optimize performance.
• Collaborate with engineers, IT, and vendors on system integration.
• Assess impact of new technologies on grid stability and operations.
• Create technical specs for grid modernization projects.
• Ensure compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical support to operations and stakeholders.
• Research emerging grid technologies; contribute to pilots in Western Cape.
