Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Genomics Researcher to advance our genomic science initiatives. The role is primarily remote with periodic lab work at the East London facility, Eastern Cape, South Africa.

You will design experiments, analyze sequencing data, and contribute to diagnostic and therapeutic solutions. The ideal candidate holds a PhD in genomics or related field and has 5+ years post‑doc experience with NGS, data interpretation, and publications.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Genomics, Molecular Biology, Genetics or related field.
• Minimum 5 years post-doctoral research experience in genomics.
• Proven hands-on experience with NGS technologies and library preparation methods.
• Strong understanding of genomic data analysis and interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct genomic experiments, including DNA/RNA extraction and library prep.
• Perform NGS experiments and troubleshoot issues.
• Analyze and interpret complex genomic datasets (WGS, WES, RNA-seq).
• Develop and validate new genomic assays and analytical methods.
• Collaborate with bioinformaticians to interpret sequencing data.
