Job summary

National Power is seeking a Generator Service Technician in the Raleigh market to maintain and repair generator sets and related electrical equipment. The role reports to the CISV Service Manager and will involve field service, troubleshooting, and commissioning on new installations.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma, technical certification (prefer Generac), and relevant military or field service experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Associate degree in electrical or mechanical field preferred.
• Generac Power Systems certification preferred.
• Prior experience as a US Air Force Electrical Power Production Specialist, US Navy Electrician’s Mate, or Generator/UPS field service technician preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair on generators and parallel systems up to 5000 kW, including ATS, bypass isolation, and closed-transition types.
• Conduct preventative maintenance (oil/filters) and troubleshoot AC/DC circuits; perform start-up/commissioning on new gensets.
• Troubleshoot diesel or gas engines, ignition components, injection systems, valve adjustments.
• Perform load-bank testing to verify operating conditions per code requirements.
• Assist other technicians on large or complex projects.
