Job summary

Common Ground is seeking a MiCAL Crisis Specialist – Frontline Strong to support First Responders remotely from Michigan. The role offers part-time shifts with a base pay of $21 hourly and shift premiums. Ideal candidates have a background in crisis work and resilience to work from home in a HIPAA-compliant setup.

Responsibilities include handling calls, chats, and texts, providing resources, de-escalation, and careful documentation while maintaining confidentiality. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year experience in mental health, substance use, and/or crisis work.
• Experience as a First Responder or related protection/preservation roles preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to first responders.
• Login to helpline applications.
• Accept incoming calls, chats and/or texts of varying crisis nature.
• Provide information on resources such as shelters, food pantries, and mental health services.
• Address callers experiencing crisis and utilize de-escalation techniques.
• Document each encounter while in-call.
• Communicate with the Frontline Strong Manager and other MiCAL staff for support.
• Maintain confidentiality in all duties.
