Job summary

Issue One is hiring a Finance Manager to own core accounting for two affiliated nonprofit entities. You will manage AP/1099s, payroll allocations, AR and revenue reconciliation, and support month-end through year-end close and audits. The role requires high attention to detail, independence, and collaboration with an outsourced controller and donors.

The position is full-time with 40 hours weekly. Washington, DC is preferred; remote candidates may be considered with regular travel to DC.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of progressively responsible accounting experience, nonprofit setting preferred.
• Experience with AP, 1099s, and year-end close processes.
• Experience reconciling contributions and grants with donor databases.
• Ability to implement and document internal controls and audit readiness.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to work with multi-entity allocations.

Responsibilities

• Own full accounts payable process for two entities using online AP platform.
• Process vendor onboarding, invoices, coding, approvals and payments.
• Maintain vendor records and 1099 preparation for both entities.
• Record deposits, reconcile contributions and pledges with donor data.
• Prepare payroll journal entries and allocate across entities/programs.
• Support month-, quarter-, and year-end close and audit readiness.
• Record intercompany activity and shared-cost allocations.
