Job summary

The Landline Company is seeking a Fleet Manager to lead maintenance, budgeting, and governance for a growing fleet of coaches. You will oversee a team including internal mechanics and a fleet manager, ensuring OEM compliant maintenance, data accuracy, and vendor management.

Remote work with occasional travel to station locations in the USA/Canada. Strong emphasis on analytics, vendor relations, and cross-functional coordination to optimize operations and costs.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of experience in transportation operations, logistics, aviation, fleet operations, or similar
• Degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or Supply Chain, or equivalent hands-on experience
• Strong data and analytical skills; Excel required; SQL/Python/BI tools a plus
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with frontline hourly staff
• Comfort working remotely across multiple locations and time zones
• Six Sigma certification (Green Belt/Black Belt) is a nice-to-have

Responsibilities

• Own the maintenance function with plan, vendors, and data for the fleet, with a path to scaling to 100 vehicles
• Build and maintain a rolling maintenance forecast aligned to OEM intervals and usage
• Maintain the maintenance budget with Finance, including variance reporting
• Coordinate unscheduled and corrective maintenance without disrupting service operations
• Keep accurate service records in Fleetio and Samsara; track DVIR resolution and escalate out-of-service conditions
• Manage parts procurement and validate pass-through costs from maintenance partners
• Flag recurring issues or vehicles approaching end of life using maintenance data
• Represent Landline at external maintenance facilities; issue work orders
• Plan all planned and unplanned work and ensure buses are positioned on time
• Review and approve partner invoices and track technician usage against budget
• Plan quarterly reviews with key maintenance vendors
• Provide SOC and leadership with real-time fleet readiness view
• Own Fleetio and Samsara as key users with partner access
• Plan vehicle assignments and capacity risks; plan for additions/retirements
• Maintain vehicle files (registration, insurance, inspections, warranties)
• Coordinate warranty claims and technician training with OEM reps
• Track TSBs, recalls, and advise leadership on OEM reliability and procurement
• Forecast maintenance windows and communicate constraints to SOC and leadership
• Ensure regulatory compliance and keep audit-ready records with KPIs
