Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager for the Core Automation team. You will lead the engineering org building AI-driven compliance and customer support automation, shaping multi-quarter roadmaps and partnering with Compliance and Operations to deliver measurable business impact.

You will oversee production LLM-based systems with guardrails and grounding, mentor multiple teams, and ensure high-velocity delivery in a regulated fintech environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering with at least 5 years of engineering management experience, including 2+ years managing managers and building teams from the ground up.
• Proven track record shipping LLM-based or Agentic AI applications to production, including grounding, guardrails, and AI system evaluation.
• Deep technical fluency in distributed systems, cloud-native architecture, and modern AI/ML infrastructure.
• Demonstrated success leading cross-functional engineering initiatives in ambiguous, fast-moving domains, translating goals into executable roadmaps.
• Experience in compliance, regulatory technology, customer support automation, or financial crimes domains.
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements.

Responsibilities

• Build, hire, and grow a high-performing engineering organization, coaching managers and senior engineers on technical leadership and AI-first practices.
• Set the technical vision and multi-quarter roadmap for Core Automation's Agentic AI systems with senior leadership alignment.
• Drive architecture and delivery of production LLM-based systems with guardrails, grounding, and measurement for reliability and compliance.
• Lead multiple parallel engineering initiatives across compliance automation domains with high delivery velocity and quality.
• Establish engineering standards, code review practices, and AI adoption frameworks to accelerate production AI delivery.
