Job summary

Affi, a remote-first company, is seeking an experienced backend engineering leader to set technical strategy for a year-long horizon and drive high-impact projects across product, design, and analytics.

You will lead a high-performance team, champion fault-tolerant distributed systems on AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes, and collaborate with global partners to ensure accuracy and reliability in financial interactions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• 2+ years managing a software team.
• Experience with highly available distributed systems.
• Experience in financial systems, ledgering, treasury or related domains.
• Strong communication to collaborate with global teams.

Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy for the team on a yearly timescale.
• Collaborate with product, design and analytics to ensure sustainability and risk management.
• Define and advocate technical solutions and operational processes.
• Own team operations and on-call responsibilities.
• Establish code review and design standards and evangelize them.
• Mentor and develop team members.
