Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a hands-on tech lead to own design and architecture across the FCM core—covering market data, order routing, settlement, reporting, and risk.

You’ll steer the next-gen replatforming, reduce legacy vendor dependencies, and maintain high reliability in a regulated trading environment. You will collaborate with product, risk, and finance teams to deliver auditable systems, mentor engineers, and raise the engineering bar while coding hands-on and driving business-ready

Qualifications

• Extensive backend engineering experience with production systems.
• Direct FCM/derivatives experience preferred.
• Hands-on ownership of parts of futures lifecycle.
• Proficiency in modern backend languages (Go; Java) and high-availability architectures.
• Experience in regulated financial environments where accuracy matters.

Responsibilities

• Own design and architecture across the FCM core from data to settlement and risk.
• Lead next-gen replatforming and reduce legacy dependencies.
• Set technical standards and drive code reviews to improve quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Risk, Ops, Finance, Compliance).
• Mentor engineers and scale engineering quality across the team.
