Job summary

SOLV Energy, a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, seeks a Principal Fire Protection Engineer for remote leadership across utility-scale storage and power projects. You will ensure fire protection designs meet codes, standards, and client specs from concept through commissioning.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of fire protection engineering experience in energy infrastructure.
• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or closely related discipline.
• PE license in Fire Protection Engineering preferred.
• Experience working with AHJs, fire marshals, and code officials for approvals and permitting.
• Deep understanding of fire protection engineering principles and building codes (NFPA, IBC, UL 9540/9540A, UL855).
• Experience managing external consultants and multi-discipline teams across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Provide SME guidance on complex fire safety challenges and risk mitigation.
• Establish company-wide engineering standards, design criteria, and best practices.
• Lead national fire protection code and standards activities for energy storage projects.
• Interface with AHJs, insurers, and engineers; travel as needed.
• Oversee BESS fire protection system design, budgets, and schedules.
• QA/QC of third-party work products to SOLV and OEM requirements.
• Collaborate with electrical/SCADA teams for design consistency and constructability.
• Support testing and commissioning of fire protection systems.
