Job summary

Rimkus Consulting Group, Inc. in Los Angeles seeks an experienced Fire Investigator to determine fire origin and cause and to provide testimony in deposition and trial.

You will conduct on-site forensic analysis, gather evidence, interview witnesses, and prepare comprehensive reports. Responsibilities include securing scenes, maintaining chain of custody, researching code violations, supporting subrogation and litigation, and presenting continuing education on fire topics.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of related work experience in fire investigation.
• AAS in Fire Science or related field.
• NAFI-CFEI certification or ability to obtain IAAI-CFI within 18 months.
• IAAI-CFI certification preferred.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Determines the origin and cause of fires and explosions involving structures, equipment, vehicles, and other losses.
• Assists in securing the fire/explosion scene to prevent evidence damage.
• Conducts on-site forensic fire analysis, including photography, interviewing witnesses, and report preparation.
• Searches for and labels potential evidence from the fire scene and maintains chain of custody.
• Provides technical support to clients for subrogation and litigation purposes.
• Conducts code compliance research including electrical, gas, fire, and building codes.
• Facilitates and helps present continuing education seminars on fire-related topics.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
