Job summary

Rimkus Consulting Group, Inc is seeking an experienced Fire Investigator to join our remote team. Investigators assess origin and cause of fires across residences, commercial and industrial sites, performing on-site forensic analyses and preparing detailed reports.

The role requires 5+ years in fire investigation, IAAI-CFEI/CFI credentials or ability to obtain them within 18 months, and strong analytical skills. The position is remote with residency required in Hawaii or Los Angeles.

Qualifications

• Must have high level of analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to interact with clients at all levels and communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of MS Office and computer‑assisted engineering/design software.

Responsibilities

• Determine origin and cause of fires and explosions in various settings.
• Assist in securing the scene to protect evidence.
• Perform on-site forensic fire analysis including photography, witness interviews, and report writing.
• Identify and label evidence, maintain chain of custody.
• Provide technical support to clients for subrogation and litigation, and assist with code research.
