Job summary

Farmers Insurance is seeking a Field Property Claims Adjuster in the St. Louis, MO area. This remote field role requires travel to policyholder homes and typically involves 23 days away from residence for Catastrophe deployments.

You will evaluate property damage, write estimates, and negotiate fair settlements while communicating with diverse stakeholders and maintaining professional standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent customer service experience, preferably in a retail environment.
• Construction or insurance experience is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication skills – both oral and written.
• Computer literate: MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Proficiency with smartphones and applications.
• Eagerness to learn about insurance policies and property damage.
• Outgoing personality that would enjoy interacting with a wide variety of people.
• Valid driver’s license and Bondable; background check may be required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field investigations by visiting policyholders’ residences to assess damage and negotiate fair settlements.
• Use claims software, company vehicle, and laptop to prepare estimates in a paperless environment.
• Evaluate and report on potential subrogation opportunities.
• Report incidents involving theft, fraud, or arson to authorities as needed.
• Engage with a variety of stakeholders including policyholders, agents, witnesses, and contractors.
