Job summary

PennEngineering® seeks a Field Application Engineer to support North America-based customers, partnering with engineering teams to drive new product concepts and testing. The role requires strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, hands-on design experience, and the ability to travel up to 50% across North America.

The position emphasizes collaboration with customers, engineering, and sales to deliver custom design solutions and technical presentations, with a focus on injection molding

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or engineering technology is required.
• Two (2) years of engineering design experience including 3D modeling.
• Ability to coordinate engineering activities within a sales/marketing function.
• Effective communication across multiple regions and cultures.
• Independent working with minimal supervision.
• Proven project leadership capability.
• Experience with injection molding techniques and materials.

Responsibilities

• Independently apply engineering principles to mechanical problem solving.
• Act as the voice of the customer for assigned accounts, managing data‑driven projects.
• Collaborate with customers and Heyco design engineering to develop new product applications.
• Maintain a high level of technical competency with CAD and enterprise system tools.
• Coordinate with Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing and global engineering teams.
• Develop custom design solutions and conduct product/technical presentations.
• Review designs with Engineering and Manufacturing for approval/suggestions.
• Coordinate application testing/specs with Heyco and the customer, rep or distributor.
