Job summary

SMX is seeking a federal financial business analyst to help advance the CFO Control Tower Budget and Spend solution for federal customers. The role is remote, with minimal travel<20% and requires a Public Trust clearance.

You will analyze business processes, document requirements, and facilitate workshops with stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities. You will collaborate with designers, developers, and budget SMEs to roll out innovative planning solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or related field required.
• 5+ years of experience in federal financial management, business process analysis, data analytics, management or tech consulting, or operations analysis.
• Experience with federal government financial data and processes.
• Experience with data analysis, reconciliation, and exception resolution.
• Strong understanding of business process improvement methodologies.
• Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a client-facing consulting environment.
• Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Develop a deep understanding of client objectives, financial operations, and strategic priorities.
• Analyze and document business processes, workflows, requirements, and decision-making needs.
• Facilitate workshops and collaborative sessions to identify process improvements.
• Recommend process, technology, and data solutions to enhance efficiency and financial outcomes.
• Review policies, system data structures, and procedures to assess impacts on business and finance.
• Utilize BI and analytics tools to maximize client data value.
• Guide clients in adopting solutions to improve operations and reporting.
• Collaborate across teams to align and deliver requirements.
• Create quality documentation across SDLC stages (RTM, FDD, Design Docs, end user docs, training guides, online help).
• Develop test plans, business use cases, and manage test execution.
