Job summary

SMX is seeking an experienced federal financial business analyst to advance the CFO Control Tower Budget and Spend solution for federal customers. This remote, full-time role requires a Public Trust clearance and up to 20% travel, with salary between $96,400 and $160,600 USD.

You will work with a cross-disciplinary team to understand client objectives, analyze processes, and implement data-driven improvements across SDLC documentation, test planning, and stakeholder collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Public Administration, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in federal financial management, business process analysis, data analytics, or related areas.
• Experience with federal government financial data, data reconciliation, and exception resolution.
• Strong understanding of business process improvement methodologies.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills; ability to explain concepts to technical and non-technical audiences; Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Develop a deep understanding of client objectives, financial operations, and strategic priorities.
• Analyze and document business processes, workflows, requirements, and decision-making needs.
• Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to identify process improvements.
• Recommend process, technology, and data solutions to enhance efficiency and financial outcomes.
• Review policies and data structures to assess impacts on business and financial processes.
• Utilize BI and analytics tools to maximize value of client data assets.
• Guide clients in adopting solutions that improve operational effectiveness, reporting, and financial performance.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure alignment of business, data, and technology requirements.
• Create quality documentation across SDLC: RTM, FDD, design documents, end-user docs, training guides.
• Develop test plans, business use cases, and manage test execution.
