Job summary

SMX is seeking a federal financial business analyst for a 100% remote role supporting the BAS solution for federal customers. The position requires deep knowledge of budgeting and planning processes and involves collaboration with designers, developers, and budget SMEs to enhance and roll out a next‑gen planning application.

You will work in a client‑facing, consulting environment with minimal travel (<20%). Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain one is required. The role offers competitive compensation and robust benefits including health insurance and retirement options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Accounting, IS, Data Analytics, or related field.
• 5+ years of federal financial management, business process analysis, data analytics, or related experience.
• Experience with federal government financial data and processes.
• Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain one.
• Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Develop understanding of client objectives, financial operations and priorities.
• Analyze and document processes, workflows, requirements and decision-making needs.
• Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to identify process improvements.
• Recommend process, technology and data solutions for efficiency and outcomes.
• Review policies and data structures to assess impacts.
• Utilize BI and analytics tools to maximize client data value.
• Guide clients in adopting solutions improving operations and reporting.
• Collaborate across teams to align requirements.
• Create quality documentation across SDLC phases (RTM, FDD, design docs, training).
• Develop test plans and manage test execution.
