Job summary

SMX is seeking a federal financial business analyst to help expand the CFO Control Tower BAS solution for federal customers. The role is 100% remote with travel <20% and requires Public Trust clearance. You will work with designers, developers and budget SMEs to enhance planning and reporting within SAC and other BI tools.

You will analyze financial processes, document requirements, lead workshops, and develop test plans to ensure delivery of a next-generation planning application.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, IS, data analytics, public administration, or related field.
• 5+ years in federal financial management, business process analysis, data analytics, or related areas.
• Experience with federal government financial data and processes.
• Experience with data analysis, reconciliation, and exception resolution.
• Strong understanding of business process improvement methodologies.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills; ability to explain complex concepts.

Responsibilities

• Develop understanding of client objectives, financial operations and priorities.
• Analyze and document processes, workflows, requirements, and decision needs.
• Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to identify improvements.
• Recommend solutions that enhance efficiency and financial outcomes.
• Review policies and data structures to assess impacts on processes.
• Utilize BI tools to maximize value of client data assets.
• Guide clients in adopting solutions to improve reporting and performance.
• Collaborate across teams to align requirements and delivery.
• Create quality SDLC documentation (RTM, FDD, design docs, training).
• Develop test plans and manage test execution.
