Job summary

SMX seeks a seasoned Federal Financial Business Analyst to advance a 100% remote BAS solution for federal customers. You will partner with a cross-functional team of designers, developers and budget SMEs to enhance the SAC-based planning and reporting tool and drive value for clients with minimal travel and a Public Trust clearance.

The role emphasizes understanding client objectives, documenting processes, and delivering end-to-end improvements across budgeting, planning, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Public Administration, or a related field.
• 5+ years of federal financial management, business process analysis or management, data analytics and reporting, management or technology consulting, or operations analysis or strategic planning.
• Experience with federal government financial data, data reconciliation and exception resolution.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; able to engage with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop understanding of client objectives, financial operations, and priorities.
• Analyze and document processes, workflows, requirements, and decision-making needs.
• Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities.
• Recommend process, technology, and data solutions to improve efficiency and outcomes.
• Review policies and data structures to assess impacts on business and financial processes.
• Utilize BI tools to maximize value of client data assets.
• Guide clients in adopting solutions to improve operations and reporting.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure aligned requirements and successful delivery.
• Create quality documentation across SDLC phases (RTM, FDD, design docs, end-user docs, training guides).
• Develop test plans, business use cases, and manage test execution.
