Job summary

SMX is seeking a Federal Financial Business Analyst to join our remote team supporting federal budgeting and planning initiatives. The role focuses on analyzing financial and operational data, improving processes, and delivering data-driven solutions for federal customers.

You will partner with government stakeholders, translate complex data into actionable insights, and influence decision-making while maintaining strong communication and collaboration with designers, developers, and budget SMEs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Public Administration, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in federal financial management, business process analysis, data analytics, management/technology consulting, or operations analysis.
• Experience with federal government financial data and processes.
• Experience with data analysis, reconciliation, and exception resolution.
• Strong understanding of business process improvement methodologies.
• Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex financial and operational data and partner with government stakeholders.
• Improve business processes and support strategic decision-making through data-driven solutions.
• Develop actionable insights and create quality documentation across SDLC stages (RTM, FDD, Design Documents, end user documentation, training guides, online help).
• Create test plans, business use cases, and manage test execution.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to align business, data, and technology requirements.
