Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a dedicated Coding Quality Specialist to support accurate and compliant professional and hospital coding practices. The role involves developing guidance, coordinating quality audits, and reporting findings to leadership.

Ideal candidates have 5 years of expert coding experience and AHIMA/AAPC credentials. Remote work is possible for qualified applicants across eligible states.

Qualifications

• 5 years of expert-level professional or hospital-based coding experience.
• Proficiency in ICD, CPT, HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Must have AHIMA or AAPC certification with RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CCS-P/CPC or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Apply coding requirements for professional and hospital coding.
• Develop and update coding guidance and reference materials.
• Coordinate coding quality audits and verify documentation.
• Analyze audit results to identify trends and risks.
• Prepare leadership summaries and reports for quality initiatives.
• Collaborate with leadership, clinicians, and education teams to improve documentation.
• Support regulatory and quality projects and ensure policy adherence.
• Respond to coding guidance inquiries and audit outcomes.
• Assist testing and workflow updates for coding quality initiatives.
