Job summary

Advocate Health seeks an experienced Facility Coding Quality professional to interpret and apply coding rules for professional and hospital coding practices. The role develops coding guidance, supports enterprise audit initiatives, and partners with clinical and education teams to improve documentation quality.

Requires AHIMA/AAPC credentials and 5 years of hospital coding experience. Remote work possible for approved states; base 40-hour weeks in a full-time capacity within the Enterprise

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent education and experience required.
• Certification from AHIMA or AAPC (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC) is required.
• 5 years of expert-level professional coding or hospital-based coding experience.
• Advanced knowledge of ICD, CPT, HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Experience with remote workforce operations.

Responsibilities

• Research, interpret, and apply coding, payer, and regulatory requirements to support accurate coding practices.
• Develop, maintain, and update coding guidance and reference materials for enterprise consistency.
• Coordinate and support coding quality audits and track findings and corrective actions.
• Analyze coding quality data and audit results to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Prepare reports for leadership, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with leadership, clinicians, and education teams to improve documentation quality.
