Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Remote Facility Coding Quality specialist for the Enterprise Revenue Cycle – Integrity Operations. You will research and apply coding guidelines for professional and hospital coding, develop guidance, and support audits and quality improvement initiatives.

Role requires advanced knowledge of ICD, CPT, HCPCS, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and experience with remote operations. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Coding credentials required and 5 years of expert-level professional or hospital-based coding experience.
• Advanced knowledge of ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Ability to identify coding quality issues and provide improvement recommendations.
• Advanced ability to analyze trends and display data in a statistical format.
• Experience with remote workforce operations and travel requirements.

Responsibilities

• Research, interpret, and apply coding, payer, and regulatory requirements for accurate coding.
• Develop and maintain coding guidance, reference materials, and position statements.
• Coordinate and support coding quality audits; track findings and corrective actions.
• Analyze coding quality data and audit results to identify trends and risks.
• Prepare summaries and reports for leadership and quality initiatives.
• Collaborate with clinicians and education teams to improve documentation quality.
• Support regulatory, compliance, and AHIMA standards projects.
• Respond to internal inquiries related to coding guidance and audit outcomes.
• Support testing, reporting validation, and workflow updates for coding quality.
