Job summary

The Hartford is seeking a Claim Consultant within Global Specialty - Financial Lines EPL Claims Group to manage EPL claims from inception to disposition. This role involves investigations, coverage analysis, and negotiations with defense counsel, with a focus on outcomes and risk management.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of litigated EPL experience, a JD preferred, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to lead complex negotiations in a hybrid or remote work setup.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate degree strongly preferred; College Degree required.
• Minimum of 7 years handling litigated coverage and liability cases and/or claims.
• Experience handling all aspects of EPL claims.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent negotiation and advanced technical claim handling skills; knowledge of insurance coverage issues.
• Ability to work with only moderate supervision and be a team player.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of EPL claims from inception to final disposition.
• Conduct investigations and analyze coverage, liability and damages.
• Communicate written positions to insureds and required parties on coverage, liability and damages.
• Set reserves and monitor them, adjusting as needed.
• Present cases to management for authority on reserves and expenses.
• Develop and implement resolution strategies through negotiations.
• Coordinate with defense counsel and manage litigation planning and budgeting.
• Attend trials and mediations as necessary.
• Prepare reports and deliver presentations to senior claim leadership.
