Job summary

Block is seeking an Engineering Manager in Finance & Supply Chain Engineering to lead a team building mission-critical systems across record-to-report automation, planning, tax reporting, and supply chain execution. You will shape a greenfield platform, define the team operating model, and drive architecture decisions with Finance, Accounting, Tax, Compliance, Product, and Operations teams.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years leading or managing engineers.
• Experience in technical leadership with delivery, execution, and team health.
• Strong technical judgment guiding architecture across distributed systems, data-intensive applications, automation platforms, or business-critical systems.
• Experience partnering with non-technical stakeholders and translating complex business requirements into clear engineering priorities.
• Familiarity with modern application, data, automation, and infrastructure patterns.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow an engineering team, creating clarity, accountability, and growth opportunities.
• Shape a greenfield platform and define foundations for a new generation of financial and supply chain systems.
• Lead development of intelligent, automated systems that streamline financial operations and coordinate workflows.
• Partner with engineering leads and cross-functional stakeholders to define architecture, roadmap, and execution plans.
• Translate ambiguous business needs into clear technical priorities, delivery plans, and measurable outcomes.
• Work with Finance, Accounting, Tax, Compliance, Product, and Operations to understand processes and build supporting systems.
• Hold the team accountable for well-tested, observable, secure, and resilient systems.
• Make pragmatic decisions across legacy systems, integrations, data pipelines, regulatory requirements, and evolving needs.
