Block is seeking an Engineering Manager in Finance & Supply Chain Engineering in San Francisco. You will lead and grow a team building mission-critical financial and supply chain systems across Record-to-Report automation, forecasting, tax reporting, and planning.

The role pairs technical leadership with architecture and product collaboration to deliver reliable, scalable platforms. You will influence culture, engineering practices, and strategic direction while partnering with Finance,

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of delivery.
• 4+ years leading or managing engineers and teams.
• Experience in technical leadership with accountable delivery and team health.
• Ability to guide architecture decisions across distributed, data-intensive systems.
• Proven collaboration with non-technical stakeholders to translate requirements into priorities.
• History of building reliable, maintainable, well-tested production systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow an engineering team with coaching and career development.
• Shape a greenfield platform for financial and supply chain systems and define architecture.
• Build agentic systems to automate workflows and improve decision-making.
• Set technical direction with cross-functional partners on roadmaps and execution plans.
• Drive execution by turning ambiguous needs into measurable outcomes.
• Partner with Finance, Accounting, Tax, Compliance, Product, and Operations.
• Ensure reliability, observability, security, and operability of critical systems.
• Foster an inclusive, high-ownership engineering culture.
