Job summary

Signal Mine is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a small, growing engineering team and improve delivery predictability and discipline. This is a delivery-first leadership role; you won't write production code, but you will shape how work is prioritized and executed.

You will report to the VP of Delivery, grow the team, and partner with clients to translate technical work into clear language. The role emphasizes healthy capacity and sustainable performance.

Qualifications

• Formal experience leading an engineering team of more than one or two people.
• Practical leadership style suited to startup, agency, or fast-moving environments.
• Strong delivery-management skills: translate requirements into work, set priorities, and resolve blockers.
• Technical fluency to discuss web services, cloud infrastructure, integrations, and testing.
• Comfort guiding teams using AI-assisted and agentic coding workflows.

Responsibilities

• Run effective stand-ups and delivery rituals to surface risks and priorities.
• Turn approved requirements into clear, actionable work and well-scoped tickets.
• Assign work across the team, balancing delivery needs and capacity.
• Track delivery health, remove blockers, and communicate tradeoffs early.
• Protect the team from burnout by managing workload and expectations.
• Ensure documentation and testing practices are followed consistently.
• Represent engineering with clients and partners and translate technical work for non-technical audiences.
• Grow and support the team with regular feedback, and assist with hiring and growth.
