Job summary

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks an Eligibility Advisor I - Temporary to support the AES division in screening and assisting Texans for SNAP, TANF, Medicaid programs, and related services. Position based in Palestine, TX, with telework eligibility and a 12-month temporary term.

The role involves interviewing clients, collecting data, and applying complex eligibility rules. Extensive training is provided; flexibility for overtime and a dynamic, fast-paced environment is

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter hours from an accredited college or university preferred.
• Experience: One (1) year of customer service with public contact.
• Comfort with basic arithmetic and data entry in a computer system.

Responsibilities

• Interview applicants and recipients to determine financial eligibility.
• Enter information into eligibility systems from multiple sources.
• Compute and authorize benefits based on eligibility.
• Process work in accordance with regulations and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
