Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer for the Electric Power Division in the United States. The role focuses on designing, developing, and implementing generator control switchgear systems, delivering automation solutions from concept to commissioning.

Qualifications

Experience in automation and controls with PLC-based systems.
Strong understanding of power systems, switchgear, ATS, and generator sets.
Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.

Responsibilities

Identify retrofit opportunities and define project scope with Dealer and Factory teams.
Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of LV and MV generator paralleling control systems.
Convert legacy PLC programs and validate performance using standard templates.
Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
Collaborate with CAD to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
Perform technical risk assessments and support field performance of projects.
Submit project documentation, reports, and expenses promptly.
Train technicians, customers, and internal teams on maintenance and system operation.
