Job summary
Caterpillar Inc. in the United States is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the Electric Power Division, focusing on the design, development, and retrofit of generator control switchgear systems.
You will deliver automation solutions for complex power systems, working independently and with teams to move projects from concept through commissioning. You will also train technicians and customers, prepare documentation, and collaborate with CAD teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in electrical engineering
- Experience with PLC/automation and power systems
- Ability to travel 35-50%
Responsibilities
- Identify retrofit opportunities, define project scope and support proposals
- Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of control systems
- Convert legacy PLC programs and validate performance
- Develop PLC and HMI applications using templates
- Produce wiring and assembly drawings with CAD teams
- Provide technical support to sales and product teams
- Train technicians and customers on system operation and maintenance
- Submit project documentation and expenses timely
