Applied Engineering is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for a remote role. You will lead electrical design, validate subsystems, own BOMs, and drive tests and reviews while collaborating with multiple teams. The position emphasizes ownership, innovation, and impact across North America.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in electrical design, strong NEC/UL knowledge, and familiarity with switchgear, SCADA and power conversion. Relocation is not specified; remote work is offered.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering required.
• 5+ years of industrial electrical design or electromechanical experience.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution, conversion, monitoring, controls and system integration.
• Experience specifying switchgear, switchboards, transfer switches, loadbanks and generators.
• Experience with NEC/UL and derating criteria for components.
• Proven design documentation, reviews, testing, validation and troubleshooting experience.
• Familiarity with design standards, manufacturability, safety and compliance practices.
• Ability to travel up to 20% within the USA.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design and validation for major subsystems and product areas.
• Translate system requirements into practical, robust electrical designs.
• Own schematics, drawings, calculations, specifications, and BOMs.
• Drive design reviews, trade studies, prototype builds, testing and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with mechanical, systems, manufacturing, sourcing, quality and project teams.
• Mentor early-career engineers and reinforce electrical design standards.
• Support project planning, effort estimation and execution.
• Stay current with power systems, microgrids, renewables and power conversion tech.
• Work with suppliers and Applied partners; contribute to community-impact projects.
• Operate in a dynamic environment that values ownership and innovation.
