Job summary

Applied Engineering is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for a remote role. You will lead electrical design and validation, translating system requirements into robust designs and owning schematics, BOMs, and specifications.

You will drive reviews, prototype builds, testing, and troubleshooting while collaborating with cross-functional teams. The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering and ~5+ years of industrial electrical design experience, with expertise in power distribution,

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• ~5+ years of industrial experience in electrical design or electromechanical systems.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution, conversion, monitoring, controls, and system integration.
• Experience designing specifications for switchgear, switchboards, transfer switches, loadbanks, and generators.
• Experience selecting and validating electrical components using NEC, UL, and industry derating criteria.
• Proven experience with design documentation, reviews, testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of design standards, manufacturability, safety, and compliance practices.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations for electrical power solutions.
• Ability to specify safe and effective prototype testing practices.
• Experience with ERP, PLM, and engineering data management systems preferred.
• Desire to work on a variety of projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design and validation for major subsystems and product areas.
• Translate system requirements into practical, robust electrical designs.
• Own schematics, drawings, calculations, specifications, and bills of material.
• Drive design reviews, trade studies, prototype builds, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with mechanical, systems, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and project teams.
• Mentor early-career engineers and reinforce electrical design standards.
• Support project planning, effort estimation, and execution.
• Contribute to projects that impact communities across North America.
