Job summary
Applied Engineering is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our remote-capable team supporting North American projects. The role focuses on leading electrical design and validation for major subsystems, owning schematics and BOMs, and mentoring junior engineers while collaborating with mechanical, systems, and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required.
- ~5+ years of industrial experience in electrical design or electromechanical systems.
- Strong knowledge of power distribution, conversion, monitoring, controls, and system integration.
- Experience designing specifications for switchgear, switchboards, transfer switches, loadbanks, and generators.
- Experience selecting and validating electrical components using NEC, UL, and industry derating criteria.
- Proven experience with design documentation, reviews, testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of design standards, manufacturability, safety, and compliance practices.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations for electrical power solutions.
- Ability to specify safe and effective prototype testing practices.
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, ETAP, SKM, or similar tools.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
- Ability to travel up to 20% within the USA.
- Experience with ERP, PLM, and engineering data management systems preferred.
- Desire to work on a variety of projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead electrical design and validation for major subsystems and product areas.
- Translate system requirements into practical, robust electrical designs.
- Own schematics, drawings, calculations, specifications, and bills of material.
- Drive design reviews, trade studies, prototype builds, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with mechanical, systems, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and project teams.
- Mentor early-career engineers and reinforce electrical design standards.
- Support project planning, effort estimation, and execution.
- Contribute to projects that impact communities across North America.
