Job summary

Albert & Mackenzie, LLP is seeking an EDD Negotiator to represent our clients in EDD lien matters and California workers’ compensation cases. The role involves handling a full caseload, reviewing claims, medical and payment records, and negotiating lien resolutions with EDD representatives.

The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of EDD/CA WC negotiation experience and established contacts within EDD. The firm offers a full-time position with a competitive compensation package and comprehensive

Qualifications

• Two+ years of experience negotiating EDD and CA Workers’ Compensation claims.
• Professional and personal contacts with EDD representatives.
• Knowledge of CA Workers’ Compensation law.
• Highly motivated, results-driven with a sense of urgency.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to juggle multiple tasks with little supervision.

Responsibilities

• Manage a full caseload of EDD lien files by reviewing claims, medical records, payment records and supporting documentation to determine lien validity and amounts.
• Conduct legal and case-specific research and prepare, file documents related to EDD liens and workers’ compensation matters.
• Communicate with EDD representatives to resolve liens, identify discrepancies or overpayments, and negotiate reductions in amounts owed.
• Consult with handling attorneys regarding claim status, defenses, settlement posture, and overall case strategy.
• Prepare proposals to resolve EDD liens, negotiate settlements, and coordinate with defense attorneys, adjusters, claims professionals, and EDD representatives throughout the lien resolution process.
• Maintain detailed case notes, track deadlines, and ensure timely follow-up through resolution of each claim.
• Maintain required billable hours and enter billing notes per client requirements.
• Represent the firm and its clients with professionalism, respect, and integrity.
