Job summary

CS Group USA is seeking an Avionics Hardware Architect with DO-254 expertise to lead the architecture, design, and certification of safety-critical avionics systems. You will define complete hardware solutions from requirements through certification while collaborating with systems and software engineering teams. Location: onsite (CT), hybrid, or fully remote.

The role demands 12+ years in avionics hardware, strong AEH knowledge, FPGA development, and HW/SW interfacing. Travel 2–6 weeks/year.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • 12+ years of hands-on avionics hardware development experience with DO-254.
  • Experience architecting complex avionics hardware systems throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of AEH, FPGA and digital hardware development, HW/SW interfacing, and systems engineering methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and technical leadership.
  • U.S. citizenship is required; dual citizenship should be disclosed.
  • Willing to travel 2–6 weeks per year.

Responsibilities

  • Architect end-to-end avionics hardware systems from concept through certification and production.
  • Collaborate across systems, hardware, software, verification, and certification teams.
  • Lead airborne electronic hardware development activities in compliance with DO-254.
  • Support certification audits and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Advise on the application of COTS in alignment with AC 20-152A.
  • Define interfacing between Hardware and FPGA; between Software and FPGA.
  • Interpret PCB/CBA design considerations and constraints.
  • Define system and software requirements and perform traceability.
  • Design and implement FPGA, ASIC, board-level, and embedded hardware efforts.
  • Conduct architecture reviews, technical assessments, and trade studies.
  • Drive verification planning and validation activities; mentor engineers.
