Job summary

GitLab is seeking a Support Engineer for the U.S. Government Support Engineering team, operating remotely across the United States. You will diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues in GitLab deployments within highly secure environments, including FedRAMP, air-gapped, and classified settings.

You’ll craft clear docs and collaborate with Product, Development, and Infrastructure teams. You will analyze logs and system behavior from the command line, contribute to product improvements,

Qualifications

• Experience managing customer-facing cases across the full support lifecycle.
• Strong Linux systems administration knowledge and troubleshooting in complex environments.
• Familiarity with AI/LLM-powered developer tooling and gateway architectures.
• Ability to use scripting languages (Ruby or Bash) and MVC frameworks (Ruby on Rails).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with public sector customers to diagnose and resolve issues in GitLab deployments under strict security and compliance.
• Conduct deep technical investigations using Linux tooling and GitLab internals to analyze logs and performance.
• Create and update clear documentation and support content based on real customer interactions.
• Participate in pairing sessions and share knowledge to improve support processes.
• Help build and refine internal tools and workflows for efficient troubleshooting.
• Support on-call rotations and assist in hiring discussions.
