Job summary

Pythian is building a next-generation Site Reliability Engineering team in the United States. You will lead, advise clients, and mentor teammates on infrastructure architecture, automation, and monitoring from design through implementation.

This role emphasizes problem solving, collaboration, and continuous learning, with a flexible remote work option. You will operate and improve client infrastructure, perform root-cause analyses, and contribute to best-practice documentation while driving

Qualifications

• Experience with Google Cloud and AWS Cloud platforms.
• Scripting and automation using Python and Scala are required.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture and container tech (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Knowledge of software development lifecycles from an infra perspective.
• Experience with Linux system administration and cloud migrations.
• Networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, DHCP).
• Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM).
• Ability to estimate work and manage schedules in a DevOps culture.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and administer client infrastructure to improve availability and visibility.
• Plan maintenance, design docs, and standard procedures.
• Provide RCA reports for outages and incidents (ITIL - Problem Management).
• Assess infrastructure state and identify resiliency improvements and automation opportunities.
• Contribute to team documentation on client systems, policies, and schedules.
• Audit client environments to identify opportunities for improvement and best practices.
• Collaborate with teammates to continuously improve working culture.
• Lead technology discussions with clients and drive technology roadmaps.
• Participate in on-call rotation as needed.
