Job summary

Reed Smith LLP is seeking a Desktop Engineer to develop, manage, and optimize end-user computing across physical and virtual platforms. The role involves imaging, packaging, endpoint configuration, VDI, and print services while ensuring secure, scalable environments for firm users.

You will act as an internal consultant to IT teams, handling deployments, upgrades, and documentation. The position supports remote work with proximity to the Pittsburgh office in mind.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an IT-related discipline or equivalent training and experience.
• Microsoft certifications a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting enterprise desktop and VDI environments.
• Experience with SCCM, Intune, Endpoint Policy Manager.
• Experience with MDM technologies including Intune and Group Policy.
• Experience supporting print server technologies and cloud-based print solutions.
• Law firm experience and knowledge of legal industry applications is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support desktop imaging and deployment activities using SCCM, Ghost Solution Suite, or similar tools.
• Manage endpoint configuration and mobile device management for laptops and desktops using Intune or similar tools.
• Develop imaging standards for OS deployment, drivers, and baseline apps.
• Package applications using MSI, EXE, and other formats for deployment.
• Create virtualized application packages using App-V, MSIX, or Cloudpager.
• Deploy, upgrade, and manage applications across systems to ensure consistent delivery.
• Design, deploy, and support print services across on‑premises and cloud environments.
• Lead installation, implementation, and deployment of application systems.
• Provide advanced administration and support for application system technologies and platforms.
• Monitor performance and availability of application systems and keep them up to date.
• Troubleshoot incidents related to desktops, applications, and printing.
• Collaborate with architecture and support teams on upgrades and enhancements.
• Maintain technical documentation and contribute to knowledge bases.
• Pursue ongoing professional development in supported technologies.
• Participate in committees or project teams related to IT initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
