Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Deputy Project Manager to assist in planning, coordinating, and executing complex VA initiatives, including VistA transition and EHR modernization. This role is fully remote in the United States with standard ET business hours and occasional weekend support during deployments.

You will collaborate with SMEs, data analysts, writers, and government stakeholders to translate strategic direction into actionable plans while managing risks and delivering measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a technical or scientific field.
• 15+ years of work experience required.
• 10 extra years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
• Strong written and oral communication; good decision-making and interpersonal skills.
• Experience leading geographically dispersed teams in a remote environment.
• Collaboration with development, engineering, and PM teams to deliver solutions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
• Experience in an agile environment is desirable but not required.
• Experience in a large Enterprise Health IT environment, VA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in day-to-day program execution, priorities, and stakeholder commitments.
• Coordinate activities across technical SMEs, Data Analysts, Technical Writers, project teams, government stakeholders, and partners.
• Translate client requirements into actionable plans, priorities, and measurable outcomes.
• Monitor scope, schedule, risks, dependencies, issues, and resources across multiple activities.
• Identify emerging requirements and develop practical solutions to protect delivery timelines.
• Ensure team activities and risks are tracked, documented, and communicated to leadership.
• Assist in developing executive briefings, status reports, and project plans.
• Facilitate cross-functional reporting and drive action items to closure.
• Suggest process improvements to increase efficiency and agility.
• Act as trusted advisor and promote continuous improvement.
